I'm new and need some help.
Hi im new here and i need some help. I have just bought a B18C5 ITR motor and tranny. It also came with a dc sports headre instead of the factory one. I got it really really cheap because the guy had no clue what he had, he was a friend of mine, and the block has a crack in it but everything else is fine. Anybody have ne suggestions on where to find a new block or is any one selling one thanks

cracked block? hope it was def cheap. if you want something cool get a dart block. they sell 2 versions of the b18 block and its a brand new block. will go for around $2k but if you're looking into building the phuck out of the motor it's a great starting point. when i dump my nissan and get my hatch(hopefully soon) i'll be going that route but with a c1 head probably.

how much did you pay exactly? (you better come back with under $1.5k)
if it is a cracked block its pretty much worthless, but the internals (pistons, rods) as well as the head, and oe oil cooler may be worth something (depending on condition)...and you could sell them out - hopefully making some money If you crack that sucker open and find that the internals are pretty much toast.........well....you know = :o |

a cracked block is bad news man. Better contact your local shops and see what they can do about it. Keep the tranny tho. ITR trannies are LSD already.

well since u already bought the complete motor for cheap then just get rid of the block...go ls/vtec...get urself an ls block....keep the lsd tranny...put the head on the ls block and go from there...with that setup in a civic hatch then it should move pretty quick...and start working on internals from there...but thats just my opinion...

I personally dont think ls/vtec works....
could more easily buy a gsr bottom/shortblock, depending on internals, and go from there |

i hate LS/Vtec. if its not Vtec leave a non-vtec. if you want a vtec so bad buy a real vtec.
just salvage this one and make some money save a little more and buy a new one. or go with hondaman and weld the ****er.

we did lsvtec on my friends motor and it's a pain in the ass. when it works its great, but the key point is when it works. in theory it shouldn't be such a hassle, but crap just likes to pop off the motor and stuff. i dunno, maybe we just messed up on it though i highly doubt it, its unlikely that the one motor that we do mess up on is his but who knows.

theres more than just swapping heads to do a ls vtec conversion.

wats so bad about ls/vtec?..I mean I dont understand why it doesnt work...This was going to be my setup but not anymore....
2000 b16 head...ls block....je pistons...new piston rings..balancing the block...b16 tranny...but now everyone is telling me not to do it because ls/vtec doesnt work too well so now im considering buying a b20 block and use it instead of my ls block...do you guys think that is a wiser thing to do if i want to save myself from having a blown motor from ls/vtec? |

your gona pay a fair $ for a new block.. but in japan they are only aloud to run about 40 000 K/M (im canadian) on there engines.. (perfect for ppl looking for forced induction!) so u can probualy get a good deal on a used block + shipping for a desent price! Other then that, i would advise u to sell it!
