Get a CF Hood or save up for Turbo?
What would you do? Buy a CF Hood for $320 (good deal right?) or save that for a Greddy Turbo Kit?

i wouldnt even buy a VIS hood. i think they are a POS company IMO. i would only get one from TC spoilers or fiber images. they are the only companies besides someone like spoon of JUN that i feel have mastered building CF hoods and not making them heavier than they need to be. i weighed my friends VIS hood compaired to my old hood(TC spoilers)... mine was 11 lbs, his was 19. my stock hood was 48 lbs his was in the 30's you get what you pay for, and while vis might look pretty with a huge layer of coating on it, its heavier and they never fit quite right in every case i've seen(i herd they are getting better, but the wieght is too high compaired to stock wiegh of hoods). remeber the point of a CF hood, to be strong and light as possible.
save for turbo.

The invader hood is quite badass though you must admit, but the reason they weight so much more is not only the coating but they dont use true CF. Why? Cause they are a still a fairly new company well not really but they have been popular for a fairly short time, and i think they still dont have the funnnds.

yeah just checked it out...Im not that impressed
obd2 hassle 500 more for a turbo that will kick on later and a set of injectors...ok maybe the price is justifyable...but there is still not fmic in the kit so the larger turbo is a waste maybe its just me, or perhaps its lack of turbo smarts (i claim ignorance) but wouldnt it have been better for greddy to just take the 15g kit and make an obd2 management kit then sell for the same price or slightly higher to fool the stupid? Or, heaven forbid, a fmic IN the kit... Yes you can say the 19t will be better because more hp, but turn up the boost on the 15g and there ya go. I dont know...15g is cheaper and dyno proven to be real nice on civics. Maybe we should make a new thread on this... |

yeah..i did wish they came include the intercooler with it rather than the injectors...i'm sure the stock injectors can handle the stock 5.5 psi
i know it retails for 500 more than the 15G but fortunately i found it for 1850 shipped! ![]()

id still buy the 15g kit if you wanted the greddy setup
that that extra 500 and get a fmic kit then ditch the bluebox down the road and do some other air/fuel management |

Well, Thermal runs the 15G kit on his OBD2 Ex, so it cant be that hard to do. . . . . . Speaking of which, if the kit has an OBD2 management kit, will it still work on an obd 1 car if you decide to use either the Vafc hack or FMU w/missing link? |

sure it would....the box is the only thing that is different...if at all (i wouldnt be surprised if it just was repinning instructions and more environmental stuff)
for 500 more than the 15g I dont think its worth it at all...injectors...psh... |

Hmmm....spend $320 on a knock off hood that will give your car that played out ricer look without some decent $$$ to paint it so the carbon fiber weaving doesn't show through....OR...buy something that could make your car a helluva lot faster. Now...if you finished reading that and are still debating, then go with the hood because you don't deserve a turbo. Seriously though...turbo kit hands down.
