Anyone into the Gumball 3000?

I'm just curious if anyone here followed the Gumball runs like I do. It's real big on the other forum I visit but it's never mentioned here. Then again, a few of the members actually run it each year, so that could be why.
For those of you that don't know. It's like the Cannonball Run (a movie from the 80s) where a bunch of rich mother f*ckers take their $100,000+ cars and go on a 3000 mile road trip. Last year it was from New York to Las Angeles. Before that, it was from England to Russia and back (and Jackass went along for the ride, you may have seen the video). Everyone shows off their fancy cars and triple-digit speeding tickets.
This year is going rather rough (from SanFransisco to Miami). California Highway Patrol managed to catch, impound, and jail 40 or so of the Gumballers... But I believe it ends today.. Find out more at the official website.

I watch the DVD put out by Mischief "Mischief 3000" occasionally and it looks like good fun, except when they got pulled over and that one Mini (i think it was?) got broadsided by a semi. My friends were actually planning a smaller scale Gumball for this summer driving from Seattle to either Portland or maybe even California with camcorders strapped to the roofs of our cars, but that idea is still up in the air. It would be sweet though if a couple people wanted to do it.

It was a //M coupe that was run off the ride by the Semi's. They ended up finished the rally in the back of a limo

Hehe. I find it amusing that you can let these guys go cross country at 100+ mph speeds, and they don't have a single crash. Give a mes'kan a pick-up, and...
