Affordable Upgrades

Well I will be pulling the engine outta my 88 Accord Ex-i to replace the rings and clutch. While it is out I am looking to upgrade things that I can afford. I am not looking to spend any more then $1000 Canadian, so please let me hear your suggestions.

Thanks

Also what is the stock horsepower? I don't know the engine type yet, since it is still in my car.

u might have like 125 horse...around there..im not to sure about the 88's u could get a intake..maybe if they make headers for ur year and a Port and Polish...that should take up almost a grand can.depending wher eu get everything from..it would be cheaper to get a engine swap in the future man..

Well I will be doing the Port and Polish myself so that will save a lot of money. Done it lots on bikes so shouldn't be too much different on a car.

Suck up over 12lbs of sand into your engine, via your intake... It's how the pro's port and polish their engines (with fine-grit sand)....

You know what I am talking about? Some kid on a GTi (Volkswagen) forum supposedly tried this. He got 1/2 way through his 25lb bag of sand when his engine finally croaked.
