New Member w/ Questions

Hello everyone,
First time posting. Anyway I will be gettign a new car soon, and I am dead set on a honda. I had a GMC Jimmy and it was nice, but brutal on gas and not that quick (although 4WD was nice in the snow)
I'm looking at a new Civic (coupe) DX or possibally the HX. is it worth the extra for the HX? I don't want an underpowered car. I won't be doing anything to the car until the warrentee is gone, I want this car to last a LONG time.
Well thanks for your input

I might get bashed for this, but both of those are underpowered. The EX has just enough power to get you around comfortably, but in order to really feel anything, you'll need an Si. This is all in stock form of course. If you want more power than any of those can offer, buy a used one with a few years on it(96-98) unless you have the money to guy a 99-up. Then pick out another engine from the Integra, CRV, Prelude, etc... and swap it in. How much do you have to spend, what are your power goals, and do you want new or used?

in the 10K to a high end of 15K is what i can do.
I don't care about a super fast car, but i don't want a dog of a car.

If you can spend up to 15k, then don't even look at a DX or HX. If it's a civic you're looking for, then AT LEAST an EX. Maybe an Si(99-00) Go test drive an EX, if it's enough, cool, if not, consider something else. Why not try out an Integra GS-R, or a Honda Prelude? They're both within your price range, and with a lot more power. The GS-R is rated at 170bhp, is around 15.4-15.7 quarter, and the Prelude is rated at 195bhp(non-SH) with high 15 slips, and the Type SH is rated at 200bhp, has ATTS(Active torque transfer system, kinda like an LSD) and runs about the same as a base model. If you ever plan on modifying the car, the Integra and Prelude will see more gains.
