Better civic...?
So I'm considering fixing my car and selling it so that I can get a 4th gen HB Si. I really like the 4th gens but saw a tight 5ht gen HB last night and am wondering.
What would be the better car, i like the 4th gen HB cause not to many around and they have decent power. Is there a 5th gen HB that's compairable? If you had say 4K to spend on an HB, which would you get? Don't forget I have to get rims, tires, springs, and shocks too (or at least I'd like to).

Id do what my friend did. Buy a 92 hatch with a blown motor for at most 1k (depending on body condition) and swap in an SIR II motor. Then use the extra 1k for boltonz. |

you have a 4th gen right ? i kinda forget how the civic goes, i thought the 5th gen civics are like 92-95 and 6th gen. anyway the 92-00 suspension components on civics are the same ( excluding the 99-00 si).

Anyone know what the stock factory colors for the 5th gen HB's? I was under the impression that the 4th gen SI's will smoke all versions of the 5th Gen HB's... yes/no? what's the better of the 5th gens? do the 5th gen HB's come in a SI or equivlent?

yeah they come in an si trim (d16z6 motor) as well as dx,cx, and vx.
the vx has some nifty features like prewired for vtec and a plate the blocks wind from getting stuck up in the rear bumper. |

I plan to do a swap but for starters want something that I can just lower, put on some rims, and have a ride with power. Been looking around and the SI 5th gens are hard to find. Do they go by another name?

I used to have a '93 hatch and loved it, It was an si and i never had problems with, also never had any probs getting parts for it. I guess it all comes down to personal preference.

Yeah, there are more parts for the 5th gens and that's why I'm considering getting one over another 4th gen. Plus I need to step out of the stone age with my 88-91 series car... step it up a couple years to 92-95. hehehe.

the 4th gen Civics are by far lighter than the 5th gens. The lightest 5th gen is the VX hatch. Weighing in at 2108 pounds. The CX at 2120, and so forth. Quote:
I wouldnt say the 5th gen is better. The 4th gen has advantages like being much lighter and being cheaper to build cuz of the cable tranny. Of course the disadvantages are of course wiring issues for swaps. The 5th gen have a more streamline body shape, are prewired for VTEC from the ECU(to the engine wiring harness plug), has more options for engine swaps. Unfortunately its more expensive to build. |

I agree, I'd rather have a car that looks mean, than one that is cute.
