Bass blockers

I'm about to get a Bazooka Amplified Sub Tube thingy, because currently all the bass I am getting is from my infinity 652Is, and I don't want to risk the chance of harming them, because I like to turn my bass up a lot. So, I was thinking of getting bass blockers to keep the low frequencies out of my 2 ways. I don't want to get a crossover, because that would mean an amp and I don't care to have an amp. I don't want some kick-ass system, I just want somethign that sounds pretty good and will put out some bass.

So does anyone here know anything about bass blockers? The sub I plan on getting has a frequency response up to 120Hz, so would a 120Hz bass blocker be what I need? Or would that cut out some of the bass? Also, do I need 2 per speaker? One for the neg wire and one for the pos wire? (Keep in mind, I know absolutely nothign about wiring/systems/etc.)

Anyway, thanks in advance for any help.

Well, according to Crutchfield.com, the Bazooka Tubes only have a frequency response of 39 - 85Hz, so I guess that'd mean I need a 85Hz bass blocker, right?

save yourself some trouble and just get an amp for the infinity's.
you will get better cleaner sound. and probably quite a bit louder as well.

unless you start hearing some really bad distortion... CRANK IT UP! more power will help with distortion too.

DON'T get a bazooka bass tube. they are terrible!! they aren't loud, they don't hit hard... don't believe anyone who says they like them, cause they are clueless.

chris.

You need only 1 bass blocker per speaker.... and you'd pick a frequency based on the 652I specs. I have a couple of bazooka tubes, and they really don't sound good. They came in the last car I got, and I just never bought anything else. They aren't horrible, but not good by any means. If you crave bass, or just want good sound, you'll need to get an amp or two.

you will be so much happier with even just a single ten with 200W powering. you really don't hafta spend much to kill those tubes, performance wise.

Ok, thanks for keeping me from buying those bazookas. I need a job, then I wouldn't try to be so cheap all of the time.

You know what I did? I bought all used stuff. My friend had an extra 200watt amp lying around and I got a 12inch sub from him too. On the whole I think I paid 30 for the amp and 40 for the sub. If your not real picky, then I'd say go to your pawn shops and/or make friends with people that have good sound systems (that seems wrong, but oh well)
btw: do you have preouts? if you do, make sure you dont buy some real old amp that doesnt have em.

i totally agree about bazooka tubes, well any bass tube for that matter. you don't need an amp if you get a crossover. there is such thing as a stand alone x-over. they used to make alot more then they do now cuz amps used to not have the internal x-overs, but they still do make them.
