Yeah it has nothing to do with the side the driver sits on. Things like proper bumpers, emissions, lighting, other safety etc. like Stefan mentioned are what count.

A Skyline would probably need at least 1 cat added to it to be legal, the bumpers are probably fine. For headlights I'm not sure what they do in Japan, but in Europe they have little lenses than shine the lights up a little on the right side (so in Japan would be left) to illuminate signs, if they shine high on the left that could be a real nuissance to other drivers.....

they are legal if you pour nearly $20,000 (i think....) into getting the engine modified, japan doesn't have emission standards, my friends brother owns a Skyline, somehow he bought it from miami Florida I think, and it is a skyline not a fake

in order to get the car US street legal you must have 2 of the cars you are trying to get legalized crash tested in detroit. they do a front end and a side collision. japanise cars do not have the same door structure as US cars. supports need to be added. safty glass must be in, the air bags must deploy at the correct speed for the particular year of the car, etc. it cost over a million to get the r32 r33 and r34 tested, plus the cost of fixing what needs to be

theres a company that imports and legalizes skylines.

http://www.skylinegtr.com/

there you go go get one.

the original question was already answered though.. rhd is legal it's all the safety/emmisions stuff that needs to be added.
