amp n sub

hey guys, rite now i have a solobaric L7 15 inch woofer with an RMS of 1000 and peak of 2000. I think i should run about 1200 watts to it, but all i have is a 600 watt kicker amp,.. if i installed this for now, until i got new amp, would this damage the sub, or just not have it run at maximum performance?

it won't damage the sub if you under power it...ultimately you want to run about half of what the speaker is rated for at peak...so if the speaker was meant to hold 1000w RMS, then you should run 1000w RMS at the most in order for it to perform properly....

if your amp is rated at 600w RMS, then it will sound good with the amp that you currently have and you won't even be close to overdriving it

It won't damage the sub...just like you said though, it won't run at full potential.
