Accel cuts off at 4k rpm

The machanic said that my car is still little sluggish and should be going faster so i let him check the car out for free...he said that he adjusted my cam gear and holly shit did that did a differance...any ways he also tooled around with my ignition timing but he did it manually with using a ignition light....so my car wont accelorate past 4k rpm...it's weird my car now is alot louder after the cam adjustment and with the ignition off would it stop accelorating like that, he's gonna fix it on tuesday but i was just wondering if it could be soemthing else...it kinda worries me and i have no power after 4k, it seems like i'm hitting redline...but the engine keeps reving but u can tell that there isn't anymore power...just asking for some thoughts...
