Moving to OT
And no, I'd NEVER buy a car off of eBay sight unseen.

Noway! Not unless I could drive it first, or it was really cheap.. Where I could atleast part it out and get my money back.

My friend bought a mustang off ebay. Got it dirt cheap. He works for the airlines so he flew up and checked it out and then won the auction.

If the car has been inspected or is certified by ebay under warranty, then I'd go ahead and purchase it regardless of location (unless shipping is going to kill you), but close is always the best.
Try not too buy a car that has already been modified, you never know how the previous owner treated the car, or if the installations of the parts have been done correctly.

I agree... if the car looks clean, has many photos, is being sold by a respectable dealer or someone who sounds intelligent, it is most likely OK to buy a car from eBay... I might buy my next car off eBay, as the prices there seem to be lower... as far as shipping, I would most likely contact the seller ahead of time and arrange a deal where I would fly to the car and inspect it, and if I liked it I would pay him and drive it home (no matter how far it was)... would get to enjoy the new car as well as save some cash...

I would only buy a car off ebay if it was in my area or at least somewhat close to me so I could drive there and take a look at it before buying it...

I bought a car off ebay and I cannot stress enough how important it is that you check the car out first! The guy I bought it from told me it was in a "minor accident" but the damage was minimal, so I bought it and got it home to find out it was totaled. Cost me $4000 in body work to get the frame straight. He wouldn't return my calls or anything, so I had no recourse.
ALWAYS CHECK OUT THE CAR BEFORE YOU BUY IT!!!! |
