Yeah, I have the AEM set in my car. Not a big difference in hp or anything, so I'd recommend doing I/H/E first. After that, I think they are a good mod for the money.

just fyi there is a big debate over whether or not they damage the engine and accesories...

A. Underdriving an alternator is bad for the elec. system... especially if you have a aftermarket stereo...
B. The aftermarket pulleys are un-balanced... this can cause SERIOUS problems in the long run...

that's about it...

I have no personal experience though... and lots of people get them w/o probs.... but others blame spun bearings on theirs....

I don't think that the AEM set will harm the car. The pulleys are balanced... what you are maybe thinking of is the Unorthodox Racing kit that comes with the crank pulley. This pulley does not have the harmonic balancer and may cause damage.

You say that underdriving the electrical system is bad, which it is, but you have to remember that these ill effects are only happening at idle. After you hit the gas, the effects are pretty much unnoticable. If you have a big system, I'd stay away from them though.

I read in a book that Honda engines are internally balanced as well so the removal of the harmonic balance when upgrading the crank pulley isn't that harmful. I dunno how true that is though.

I'm wondering why you say not to replace the stock crank pulley? I'm not saying your'e wrong or anything. I was just curious because I was concidering doing this mod once it comes out for my car. If there's any reason behind why you say this then I won't do it. Thanks.

F's and H's yes...

B's and D's NO...

the f's and h's have a "balance shaft" which is essentially a weighted shaft that spins with the crank to cancel vibration...

It doesn't matter though... even on an "internally balanced" engine... if you through a piece on the end of it that isn't balanced you just "externally un-balanced" your engine.

Also to adress the aem kit...

A. the gains can't be very much... and those are the expensive ones.
B. Underdriving the p/s pump is kind of silly because the only time it's really used is at idle... or damn near it... it's only power assist so it only really kicks on when your in a parking lot etc...

I'm sure the aem ones don't do harm but they're kinda pointless and overpriced imo...

As far as the other ones... like I said. lots of people have no probs... lots of people ***** and blame all sorts of dif. engine damage to them...
