Might be buying a quad...

I'm looking at buying a quad in the next couple of weeks. It'll be for the dunes on the coast as well as some trail riding. This will be my first quad and I've never owned a dirtbike or anything like that. I've been riding several times though and really want to get into this. If I was just trail riding, I'd get a dirtbike, but I want a quad for the dunes.

I'll be getting a used one most likely. Top choice is a Suzuki Z400 right now, but they are hard to find, so I might get a 400EX for much cheaper and they're all over the place.

What are some things to look for when buying a used bike? Anything in particular I should check besides the obvious? Anything else I should know?

Thanks

i have been riding for ever.... and i love it, i have a 99 blaster, 1986 yamaha moto4 (just to beat the shit outta) and a crf250x which is insane. i would say get a banshee i road one, they are quick and can smoke the tires right off them stock from company, or 400EX which are also so so nice.... i love them both.

No banshees for me, I'm looking for a reliable 4-stroke to ride trails with also. Those are insane, but not what I'm going for.

Yeah, I considered a Raptor, but I want something a little smaller and nimbler. I'm pretty set on getting a 400.

Anyone else have anything to add?
