Takata Harnesses

I've seen these ALOT lately. This month's Honda Tuning, the 05 Super Street catalog, and preludepower. They are everywhere.

At first I thought to myself, why in gods name is everyone going nuts over these lime green harnesses. Lime green and red aren't the worlds most complimentary colors. Must be some sorta magic about them b/c I now find myself liking them....A LOT.

a friend of mine has hooked up his lude with red recaros and takata harnesses and it looks damned sweet. This months cover car in HT has Black Brides with takata's and its sweet as hell also. They just work!

Anyways, I was wondering why the hell they are so expensive? Was just checking out eBay and it looks like one harness costs almost as much one seat?!

Why is it expensive? Because people will pay through the nose for tacky shit. Want proof? Look no further than Altezzas and HID headlights. Both make you look like a douche...but for some reason people are willing to pay perfectly good money for them.

I got a pair for my boyfriend in like, December 03 on www.mohdparts.com for $325 a piece. I actually like my Sparco 5points better because the Takata ones were still stiff after a year of wear.

I just don't understand the people who stick these harnesses in their daily drivers..i mean come on...is it that necessary?
(althought I admit it looks nice, it's practicality is up in the air)

They really keep you planted when you take that turn out of the grocery store parking lot doing 5mph. That's like adding a rear strut tower brace to a daily driver. Pointless.

I'll admit, I like the harnesses, if I had a car that I used on a track, and if I had a show car, I would probably put them in there, but my daily driver. Probabaly not. I do think they are nice though.

my uncle had harnesses in his car...of course it was a old 911 turbo and a straight up track car (completely gutted, roll cage and one seat)
