Problem With Free-Flow Converter
Listen, here is my problem. I just installed a free-flowing converter on my 1998 Honda Civic EX. I have a cat back PaceSetter exhaust. Until I installed the free-flow converter, everything was fine. But when I installed the new free-flow converter, it tripped a code to the CPU. What I am wondering is, what can I do to get the CPU to not throw a code. I do know now that there is not enough back pressure to the engine. Hope someone can help me on this one. Thanks

maybe you didn't put the sensor back...i know mine has a sensor in the cat converter..

MANY high flow cats have that problem...its because theyre actually more of a test pipe than a converter... What you can do is:
get rid of the high flow for a stock style one get a better quality converter (carsound, catco, etc) o2 sensor simulator (www.jdmfan.com, google) Probably more choices...but Im dumb as a post today |

yeah, you're problem is surely the 02 sensor, it doesn't like all that noxious gas that normally your real cat would filter out. I've never heard of those simulators, but that would probably fix your prob. Here's a site I found for them:

Well first of all i have a 1998 Honda Civic EX 5 Speed manual.
I have a cat back PaceSetter exhaust, a high flow converter, Nitrous Express, Venom Fuel Injectors, AEM Cam Gears, AEM Pulleys, AEM Cold Air Intake, Bosch Platinum +4 Spark Plugs, Ractive 9mm Plug Wires, Ractive Front Strut bar, Ractive Rear Upper & Lower Tie Bars, MSD SCI Plus Ignition, Ractive Short Shifter. What else do you want to know? And thanks for the tip on the O2 simulator. I'll have to give that a try. And yes I do have the O2 sensor, hooked up and installed. Thanks. |

ohhh bosche eh...must run like ass...most hondas that do run those do anyways...

Call the manufacturer of the cat and tell them you're tripping a code with their cat. 3. If they give you a replacement try that one... if it continues get your money back and get another company's.
