old school indy

I thought some of you might be intested in this, I realize it's only a 4 BANGER  designed originally in the 30's ... but still an interesting piece of machinery.

Hehe, notice the BOV and all that fun stuff.

I didn't get a good picture of the info next to it, but it said it placed 3rd in the 1966 Indy 500. It's still raced in vintage racing now and then. It said with that @ 15psi (regulation boost back then I guess?) it makes 750hp and at 30psi it makes 1400hp. It's a 2.5L Offy, and late 60's is about the end of the domination of Offy's in Indy cars.

This was at the Belleville Highbanks museum (if any of you are into dirt track stuff and out that way, stop in). Infront of it was the Midget that Jeff Gordon won the nationals in 1990 in... then went into NASCAR.
