There is no need or purpose to having an intercooler if you don't have a turbo.
A cold air intake works well enough if you don't have forced induction. The reason for an intercooler is to cool the hot air after passing through the very hot turbo.
Another reason why there aren't cold air intakes on turbo setups is because it'll really suck up water if you go through a puddle, plus the intercooler is there to cool the air, so it's all you need when running a turbo.
So, no turbo=cold air intake and NO INTERCOOLER
turbo=intercooler and NO COLD AIR INTAKE
