Actually i rank crt hd's above lcd or plasma. Plasma's have a life expectancy of at least 2 yrs (my dad is a tv repairman, he sees them come into the shop all the time, all with a problem with the projection unit(not an actual projector, its a tubeless tv, aso the device that displays the screen is the projection unit)
also lcd's have a 45* viewing angle where as plasmas can vary, and crt has 180+* viewing area. they are also lighter (those slim line flat screens that are 27" and bigger can weigh at least 150 lbs, where as my 52" CRT HD (made by panasonic) weighs around 130 lbs. sure its heavy, but the tv is bigger, so what do you expect.
also most hd tv's you buy dont come a base or wall unit, where as the crt has a built in stand. thats also something you have to look for, how much do you have to buy/install in order to watch friggen tv.
