Yeah...I'd return it. It doesn't sound like a software problem (which is astoundingly lucky) since the songs are there and will play on computers and whatnot. Doesn't sound like an interface problem because...well...the little light's telling you it's empty. My guess is that there's a bug somewhere in the hardware. Maybe a command line glitch or something that's keeping it from accessing the songs to know that they're there. Either contact Apple's tech support or just retun the damn thing and exchange it for one that (hopefully) works. It's a long shot to find a fully functional one, but here's to hoping.
