[GT40FIED]

Why? Because I can. Before I left Kansas City I decided to pick up a couple games to help me keep my sanity, so I picked up Black and God Of War (both for PS2). My thoughts:

BLACK
--------------

A nice little FPS where you're a black-ops guy running around killing terrorist motherfuckers. The game engine is really nice...if you shoot shit (objects), it splinters, cracks, breaks, etc. You know...like shit does in real life. The weapons are all real and pretty damn cool. You get everything from a Glock to an AK-47 to a MP5 to a M249 (to name a few). The only problem is that, while the enemies have good AI (they take cover and evade you), the game gets repetitive since all of the enemies spawn in the same place regardless of the difficulty level. Oh...and no blood. Not a deal breaker, but a little gusher with a head shot would be nice.

GOD OF WAR

I'm still not totally done with this one yet, but I'm pretty far along. You basically run around ancient Greece as a mortal with crazy powers doing the bidding of the gods. That is to say that you find minions of Ares and ruin their shit while solving puzzles to move on in the game. This game is DEFINITELY not for kids. There's enough blood to make even me go "whoa...holy shit". That...and nudity. Yeah...nakey-nakes. At first I thought it was just a quick cut-shot but every woman you meet in the game is either topless, wearing see-through tops, or damn near naked. This seems almost sad when you imagine the end result of animated nudity and sexually frustrated gamers in their parent's basements. The one REAL down to this game is that there's no camera control and the angles picked by the game are usually really bad. But oh well...so far it's really creative and fucking bloody. Worth the $20 it now costs as a "Greatest Hits" title.
