Well I guess I'm a purist. The kind of processor he's using is synth (that's why it sounds like a violin) which means it's digital. Most pedals are analog (the good ones, anyway). I just don't believe in taking an analog signal from a guitar and turning it digital. It always sounds so...soulless. Besides, no one's even made really thick distortion with a pedal. It takes a good head with tons of wattage. All a pedal will do is give you fuzz.
