As for the numbers, my guess would be because of their biblical representations. 3 being the trinity, 5 being man, and 7 being god (the devil being 6). I'm not exactly sure why those numbers apply to those things (well...except the trinity), but some people seem to think they do.

I don't know much about 5 or 7 being represented as numbers for man or god...never heard of that one (not being a dick, just uneducated). But three being the father, son, and holy ghost/spirit. I think that sometimes a lot of this stuff is taken way out of context. Non believers and beilevers alike.
