battery removal

My mom went shopping for a new battery. Two different places that offer free installation told her that they couldn't do it on her car. In order to remove the battery you have to take off a stabilizer bar that attaches right above the top of the struts.

One of the places told her that they couldn't do it because it might effect her alignment. The bar doesn't attach directly to the struts. It bolts to the body. Does anyone know if removing this bar could actually somehow effect the alignment? I think it is a total bullshit story. The owner's manual doesn't say anything about battery installation. I can't imagine any car being designed in such a way that changing the battery could effect the alignment. What do you guys think?
