I'm pretty sure it has MUCH better holding power...
think about it... the lug is the threaded hole on a stud type hub...
On european ones the hub is the threaded hole... it's a LOT more sturdy...
Most things that are on european cars is because they designed that way for a reason...
If you line up the holes visually it's pretty easy to get them on straight... or you can put one of the lugs through the wheel hole and catch it on hub hole...
Almost all the cars at my work have those style hubs.
