I have a 2000 ex with a vtec, and it doesn't have the stickers on the outside or on the valve cover although it is a vtec. As to v-tec being overrated, i think not, it is a wonderful techonlogy, but it is not outstanding since many manufacturers have replicated it. It is however noticible because my buddy has a non vtec civic with a d15 and when he drove mine he said it was amazing compared to his. However i don't think it provided a substantial power gain when it comes on as some people were saying.
