Centrifugals altogether aren't my cup of tea. I mean...why rev the hell out of your motor just to get the desired boost levels? They also put an undue amount of pressure on the crank snout without some serious consideration and aftermarket parts. Roots blowers aren't too great either unless they're intercooled (I don't think the Holley 174 the mentioned is) even though they provide good low end response. They're fairly inefficiect at compressing air, even compared to a Lysholm screw blower (I'd have liked to see one of those in that test) which are somewhat similar in design. Turbos are really only a good bet if they're intercooled since you're using hot exhaust gas to turn them...but even non-IC I'd still take a turbo over a centrifugal blower any day.
