well without a selective service number you won't be able to apply for financial aid thru the government, or work for government agencies like usps and shit. also that thing is required if you are like me and need to apply for citizenship. i got the number 4 years ago when i turned 19 or so, and yeah, i was in the us when i turned 18, but no one really bothered to send me one of those cards
