As far as "claus" being old english for "hoof-claws", you also have to remember that it's probably a bastardisation of the name "Klause" since santa means "saint". Saint hoof-claws doesn't much sense. But hey...any christian rituals/holidays can have connections made to satanism if you try hard enough. This is why christianity is evil. Symbolic cannibalism, rythmic chanting, sacrifice and rebirth...it's all just plain evil.
