in my instructions it recomends soldering them...

My best advice would be to...

A. Cut it after the rubber grommet just below the harness plug (that way you can still run the wire that way (I actually found it easier to run without using the stock mount but it's a good option to have)
B. Buy harness' (you could use the one off your old o2 sensor and go to a junkyard to get the opposite side of it from a car there) so you can just solder in the connectors to that... THAT WAY... you don't have to cut the o2 sensor wires at all... you just use the extenion cable... plugging it in at both ends...
