Generally people in the midwest and south say "pop", and usually then it's usually in smaller towns. In a bigger city people will look at you like a bumpkin if you say "pop" (and rightfully so). Pop is a word that describes a sound (an otomatopia (sp?)) or an action. It can also be short for popular. It is not, however, a drink. Soda, however, is a drink. So please, speak correctly...especially you Ohio folk...I'm not sure what goes on up there but I'd sure appreciate proper english.
