Fast is fun every once in a while. If I poured money into into making my car super fast, I would only get to realize its full potential on rare occasions. Namely, taking it to a track. In which case I would get 10-15 seconds of pleasure for my investment. With a show car, it looks good all the time. Plus, car shows last for hours, sometimes days. From my point of view, a show car yields more for my investment (considering of course my situation, income, etc.).
But in the end its just hard to resist screaming down a strip of pavement faster than your car was meant to be able to go.
