Automatic Trans.: Convenient and simple to drive BUT the downsides are you don't get as good gas mileage as a manual, you don't have complete control of the car, and you don't get to enjoy driving.
Manual Trans.: The gas mileage is better than automatics because you shift the car manually (yourself), you have total control of your car meaning if its raining you can throw your car into a lower gear for better control and handling, and if you think learning how to drive a manual is hard its really actually more simple than you think and you get used to it so you don't have to think about what your doing, plus it doesn't take much time to learn, if racing or speed is your thing then you would want a manual because you get to control when the car shifts meaning you would let the RPMs run high to get the most speed out of a gear also acceleration from stop to go is better because of this plus also your in control and your changing the gear manually, driving a manual is lots of fun and you get a feel of your car in a whole different way then if it was a manual BUT the downsides are driving a five speed in heavy traffic is often hell, driving a clutch requires lots of attention because you don't have a free hand or foot making eating, talking on the phone without a earpiece or headset a huge task, clutch replacement is bound to happen if you keep the car for a while...costing you about 400 to 600 dollars.
So think about which fits you better after you read the above, then here is the result...if you enjoy driving and love the control you have, then get a manual. But if you just like to get in the car and have it do the work, then an automatic would be a better choice.
