Ok...I'm not even a democrat (or anything for that matter) and I've got to chime in here. First of all, you have to realize that in the vast political scope of the world this entire country, democrat, republican, independent, whatever is based on a classically liberal system. I'm not talking about bleeding heart type liberal rhetoric bullshit...but in the grand scheme we're all fairly liberal.
All this talk about terrorism...perhaps I should welcome you folks to the real world. Other countries live with this threat every day of their very existance. We get attacked once, granted it was on a larger scale, and we become chickens with our heads cut off. Ok...3000 people died in the world trade center and associated attacks. How many people do you think have been killed or wounded in Israel? Or the Sierra Leone? Or maybe as a result of drug cartels in South/Central America? I don't mean to downplay what happened a year and a half ago...but for ****'s sake put it into perspective. Just because the people who died were overwhelmingly American doesn't mean that it makes it worse. When you see a suicide bombing on the news in some other part of the world would you bring it up years later? No...you shake your head and forget about it the next day. We've become a nationalistic xenophobic and ethnocentric country in the last year and I'm sick of hearing people whine about what's not being done (and remember, the word "nazi" is just a shortened form of the word "nationalist" in german). You think you could do better? Run for office.
As far as Bush vs. Clinton...they're a dead tie for stupidity. I can't believe that anyone would stand up for either one against the other. They both had their good and bad points. With Clinton you've got sex scandals, Whitewater, (as you noted) the "vast right-winged conspiracy", etc. But Bush is a former drunken coke-head Texas bumpkin who couldn't tell his ass from a whole in the ground and can't speak proper grammar. Add to that the fact that, if given the chance, he seems very willing to run this country into the ground. I won't say one is better than the other but they're both total morons when it comes to everyday life. As for things outside of everyday life...do you honestly believe they come up with their policies and whatnot? No...they appoint cabinet members who have either made campaign contributions or who they feel will best reflect their own personal interests which aren't necissarily those of the country at large. Just out of curiousity, why didn't you just title this thread "Why I Hate Bill Clinton"? It would have been much more fitting.
If you truely think there was ever a "void" in this world you are sadly mistaken. The people you mentioned have been there for much longer than 8 years but have only recently stepped into your radar because their easy targets for political lip service. Wanna know why we're going after Iraq? OIL. North Korea has proven it already has nuclear weapons but we've next to ignored them. We *think* Iraq might have other dangerous weapons but we KNOW they've got oil. Mmmmmm....precious oil. So who will we blow the shit out of first? That's right...it's got nothing to do with right or wrong. I don't know if you've looked around lately but there isn't a country in this world that poses a direct threat to us. As for the indirect threats...you think leveling some third world nation state will make that go away?
I'd like to invite you into the present my friend. Clinton's not our president anymore so let it go. Our current president is also a moron....get over it. Hopefully it will be over soon and maybe...just maybe...we can get someone with half a brain in their head into office. These last 12 years have been a bastion of stupidity and special interests and corporate influences controling what goes on around here. Think about this...GE owns large interests in media conglomorates so they can, in essence, control what you see on the news. They also have defense contracts with the US government. Am I the only one who sees a conflict of interests here? To reiderate, I'm not a democrat or republican so I'm not going to contradict or affirm anything you've said. But please, for the love of god, look at the big picture here. Last time I checked we live on a round planet and maybe America needs to start looking at it in terms of understanding instead of "what can we blow up next?".

Someday, in the event that mankind actually figures out what it is that this world actually revoles around, thousands of people are going to be shocked and perplexed that it was not them. Sometimes this includes me.
