Basically they link your rear shocks together to promote the same chassis rigidity as a regular strut tower bar. Honestly, unless you're into some serious SCCA or NASA type racing shit they're of little value. They do their job, but it's hard to notice unless you really flog the car in the corners. This is, of course, from my experience with domestic cars...dunno about imports.
