yes a girl is definitely lookin for a guy with confidence. And one sure fire sign of confidence is the guy approaching the girl. I can go up and talk to a ton of guys whether they be hot or not...but it drives me NUTS when I'm tryin to talk to one of them, or get them to come over and talk to me and they punk out and don't have the balls to do it. If you try to talk to a girl and you look like a fool doing it, if she's really into you she won't care that you look like a fool. She'll give ya the 2nd chance to save face. If she disses you, then trust me you're better off without her. Confidence is key here! And Rob (Mt. Biker) has a very good point about the hot chicks....most of them know it and aren't the kind of girl you truely want. They'll just walk all over ya.
