b16 bottom/ h22 head

just wanted to know if it was possible

i've seen it done on a b18 bottom with h22 head
actually raced one dude like that

yes, i got killed

as far as I know that as well as what you mentioned should be impossible as far as bolting them straight up..

but i've never tried so wtf do i know.

the whole point of the block/head letters is to show which parts are swappable. Ie: b16 head or bottom end can go onto any part from a b18 or b20 (with some modification sometimes).

yea u cant start putting H's on B's....unless its heavily modded..^^ i think..ive never seen of heard of something like that....

I think that guy your raced was lying or just an idiot.

ChrisCantSkate 11-26-2002 03:46 PM

he is a fool. its not possible. the combustion chambers wouldnt meet up with they pistons right, the bolts wouldnt line up right, and the h22 head is ALOT bigger than a b-serise head. there are more differences in sizes and fitament than i care to even think about. its like fitting a h22 header on a b16 head.

AzCivic 11-26-2002 09:26 PM

I'm thinking of putting LS1 heads on my D16. :D :D :D

nonovurbizniz 11-26-2002 09:59 PM

don't the h22 spin the right way instead of counterclockwise like the b's??

just wondering

Senshi 11-27-2002 01:12 PM

no i am sure this was an h22 head, i was looking straight at the engine, and i mean this thing FLEW!!!!!

it was crazy

ShEaNy 11-27-2002 01:16 PM

k how did u know it was a H22 head? did it say DOHC VTEC? B18's and 16's etc have those heads....u barely can tell the difference....

Senshi 11-28-2002 12:46 AM

the h22 head is larger then the b16, and i've seen both, and this WAS an h22

AzCivic 11-28-2002 08:59 AM

What the hell would a B series engine gain by putting a H series head on it? I'd have to say nothing.

Senshi 11-28-2002 11:15 AM

i'm not saying what it gained, i'm just saying that i saw it on there

ChrisCantSkate 11-29-2002 01:10 PM

its not possile, the engines are different lengths, its physicaly not possible, you'd have more luck getting a h22 head on a f22sohc enne than a b-serise dohc engine. that guy lied to you, or you just dont nkow what a h22 head look like

ebpda9 11-30-2002 01:06 AM

weird. did he tape the head to the block ?

first of all the bore of the h22 is 87mm
f22 is 85mm

and i couldn't find the bore for the b16 but the d16 is a 75mm bore
the b18c5 has a 81mm bore.

i guess numbers speak for themselves

ShEaNy 11-30-2002 08:46 PM

ya...its impossible....it just doesnt work....get pics....

im not saying the f22 head has been done, but theres more of a chance than b-serise.

ebpda9 11-30-2002 11:09 PM

no i was saying that to the first dude. i think the f22 has the head held on with 12 studs to the block while the h22 has 16

ChrisCantSkate 11-30-2002 11:14 PM

yeah... thats true
