86 si probs
 

Heyyas,
Buddy of mines got an 86 si that he's chewing caps and rotors up on a pretty regular basis, about every 3 weeks. I was thinking cam end play being out of spec tossing the distrib around. He did say he's also getting alot of jerkiness and sputtering on acceleration, but what he was describing there sounded just as much like a slipping clutch more than anything. Just a real bad jerking and vibration when he let the clutch out. He said he flashed an 18 and 19 from the pcm.
Any help would be appreciated.

This is based on my experience.

I was going through plugs like they were free. My internal coil was shot so i got an msd external coil and a msd modifier cap.

it put almost an end to the pinging.. stopped the sputtering (a mechanic told me my clutch was slipping (he was wrong))

Give it a shot they don't cost much I may even have the one (modifier cap he'll still need an external coil) he needs for sale.

Or just get a new stock coil.

could be something else though
