One more question...

the subs i bought said, "Continuous Power Handling: 300 Watts" whats this mean? i bought a 1000 watt 4 channel amp.

if 500 watts per sub is too much for 2 JL audio W6's, then i guess i can bridge them, or do somthing with the ohms....you got any ideas? and is 500 watts too much for those subs?

What amp did you buy?

the BOSS REV800 Chaos 1000 Watt 4 channel

Continuos rating is how much a sub or amp can take/put out constantly. I thought W6's could handle more than 300 rms. Is that per coil since it's a DVC?

i have no idea, but theres the info on um....

and so, i couldn't run 400 watts for 1 hour straight?

a96710 11-11-2002 10:08 PM

400 rms to the subs?? Yeah as long as you don't put the subs peak power. It could take it for maybe a lil while but would eventually blow

OPAKRACING 11-11-2002 10:35 PM

well, with a 1000 watt amp, what could i do, to make the power a lil less, so that i can still listen to loud music, without my subs blowing?

like, can i bridge it, or do somthign with the ohms?

Accord Man 11-11-2002 11:00 PM

oh gosh, you bought a Boss amp..

the amp is supposed to put out 420w rms x 2... but dont expect more than 120w rms x 2.. and thats with very dirty sound. I'm not joking.

You can push the amp as hard as you want, the subs can handle much much more.. But be careful, the amp distorts very easily and that'll hurt the subs.

OPAKRACING 11-11-2002 11:02 PM

wait, so are you saying that the subs can take the 500 watts continuousely?

JL audio huh?! Never heard of that brand.. Do they also make running shoes?

Do you think I'm new to this? Cause if I was, I wouldnt be trying to help you.

And about where to buy, check out thezeb.com they are great.

And I'll tell you one last time, considering the equipment you have and the music you listen to you really should get a sealed box.

Well I tried to show you the light.. I cant yell it out thru the net..

Good luck!

He's saying that your amp won't put out even close to that much power, so don't worry about it. Be careful with distortion, as it will hurt your speakers.
