What to do?
 
ive got a 2000 civic ex and im looking for a few ideas... ive got $3000 and need a few ideas on what i should buy. im mainly talking about engine performance, because ive got my system, suspension, body kit, etc. covered.

or u can natural aspirate your engine....headers, PnP,etc....its up to u....id still go with turbo at a low boost..if u want it to last a bit..

Go for the turbo, if you go with a greedy kit, you might as well have it profesionally installed too. Good bye to all 3k though. Besides that if you're willing to learn about your car and invest your money wisely, www.homemadeturbo.com.

I've been working on the parts for my car, saved over 400$ so far and have been finding great deals, just ahve to be patient.

GReddy kit is beyond easy to DIY. dont pay someone to do that shiet.

id still go with a homemade setup, find your own parts.

If you went with the homemade setup, you could get like a T4 garrett off of a Eclipse in the junkyard, or off of ebay, and get a Saab intercooler. The blow off valve, wastegate, and other stuff you might have to buy elsewhere, and possibly the downpiping too. To turbo, you need to upgrade your internals too to make sure that you don't blow the engine with overheating. I would get a stage three clutch, new flywheel and pistons, a turbo system exhaust. Your budget can handle all of that, but rest a sure, not a whole lot of people will wax you on the road, and the fact that you will have that awesom blow off valve noise too.

you dont HAVE to upgrade the internals if you are running a minimal amount of boost and you have proper tuning.
get a stock eclipse turbo or a wrx turbo....tial wastegate, blah blah...
starion intercoolers work too, easy to find and cheap.

as long as the boost is low enough (say 7psi) all internals should be fine, right? Upgraded clutch to stage 1 (70% over stock), shouldnt that be ok too?

Well, in all honesty, you really don't have to upgrade all that internal stuff while running low boost.......but if you are running more than you should then you need to. I have some friends that thought the same thing also about the low boost running and no internals and BOOM....they had the engine tuned good and all. Better to be safe than sorry! On a budget, I would rather invest the money on the internals than a new engine.

I'm just gonna run about 5-7 PSI. I'm not planning on upgrading andy of the internals.... Here is the key, exteranal oil cooler and larger oil filter.... This will REALLY help from having your engine over heat.

you could put in a 2-3mm headgasket and run 10psi.

theres a dude in the H-T boosted forum that's selling a rod/piston combo for a good price that he runs 1.2 bar (17 psi (i think)). no sleeves or blockguard i don't think.
