it's called a bypass valve and it costs around $40 from www.coximports.com . you gotta have their cai thou

Grab a bypass valve from AEM in whatever size tubing you have. I might put mine back on this winter if I lower my car.

will a AEM bypassvalve work on a no brand CAI?

dont bypass valves slow you down a little though?

Slight loss in hp and sound. If you're worried about your engine it might be worth it. I drove around with my CAI all last winter - once even through a deep puddle and had no problems. If you hit water, put the clutch in so you idle and the engine won't suck as much air in.

good advice ! :D

AEM advices against doing that. i dunno what's the deal.

haha probabaly because aem dont want their bypass on any intake other then their own so they woudl make more money...:D

how mcuh hp exactly do you gain from an AEM CAI?

asian accord boi 10-07-2002 10:08 PM

not sure about that but heard anywhere from 2-5 to 8-10....not sure really depends

SilvaAccord 10-08-2002 06:19 PM

The pipe might very in size. When u have the bypass valve u do loose about 1hp. I was going to put mine on, but saw how high the filter was from the ground, so I just left it off.

CAI will be closer to 2 than 10 hp gained. Perhaps the colder (and drier?) it is outside the more the gain. The loss from installing the bypass valve (according to my highly techical butt-dyno) is negligable.

i like how you're more worried about losing 1hp than losing an ENTIRE ENGINE. You know you wouldn't even notice that bit of hp if it was there or not.

Anyway, for peace of mind you should get it, it's made to work, but you would have to drive through a very deep puddle to get the filter under that much water.
