what kind of paint to use...
 

i was wondering what paint would work well with blacking out 6g civic headlights... any suggestions? any other tips in the process would help too. thanks in advance.

use a high heat paint

oh, i forgot, there should be instructions in the "Step-By-Step" section here. If not just look it up on google and you'll get decent instructions.

krylon bbq grill black paint.....i bought a can, havent used it yet. but if it works on a grill, it'll work in your headlights :)

you should sand down the reflector area to give the paint better adhesian.

also keep in mind that painting the reflector area of your headlights will DECREASE your lighting. the reason the stock ones have all that plasti-chrome is to reflect light which black does not do.

the aftermarket headlights that have black surrounds are projector style headlights. which means the light is never meant to reflect off of the housing.

so if yer doing this to stock lights expect a DECREASE in light intesity. also expect that you will not re-seal the housing properly and this will lead to that wonderful "condensated look" that everyone loves

will it reflect better with glossy paint?

better than matt paint but not better than stock.

if you just want the "look" (which i think is ghey) then get GTS blackouts or one of those molded plastic jobs that blackout most of the light except a pair of circles or whatever other design that's cut out.

other than that your only going to HURT the performance of your headlights. Keep in mind that the stock 9003's are REALLY REALLY good headlights they're bright and long lasting.

It's always been my opinion that if you mod something on your car the Performance of this part should be INCREASED not DECREASED.
