ssr competition 16 or 17?
 

I really want to get these rims because of the light weight. Though I'm really concerned with it bending as I have read doing research. Can anyone tell me more about this? Also, I am debating about whether I should go with 17s or 16s. I also do not want any tire rub what so ever. The wheel offset is +42. Should that cover me with 17s? I know that by going with 16s theres no worries. I like how 17s look, and with these wheels it won't slow me down. Any imput is appreciated thanks.

If you're going for speed, get the 16s. 16s look nice on a Civic anyway.

I agree.. Civics look ok with 16s, and that just less weight. ;)

I just thought I'd clarify something. The larger the rim, the more it slows you down. Sure, the 17s might only weight a couple pounds more than the 16s, but ask yourself where that weight is... on the outside rim. The moment (torque) required to move a point of mass is the weight times the perpendicular distance to the center. In other words, it gets harder and harder to move the wheels as the weight gets concentrated further from the center.

i agree with you trev, but if u plan on keeping the same profile for the wheels, you are gonna have more rubber, and that one is heavy too, so i think it comes about the same. hope you understand what i wanted to say.

I know what you're saying, but I'm not sure that I agree. The majority of the weight of the tire comes from the outer edge, where the tread is. Moving the heaviest part of the wheel out by 1" total (17" wheels) is going to give more of a performance hit than having that extra little bit of rubber on a 16" wheel.

so will i have any tire rubs with 16s? and whats the best size? 16X ?. How about tire size?

for a 16 go with a 205/45 or a 205/40.....i had my car dropped as you see in the below pic (well not at 11:45pm cuz imagestation is down but..) which is app. 4", i had no rub and the offset was +42 with 205/40-16's.
so i doubt you are that low, you will be fine.
