Tires
I thought Id get more response in here then the "My Car Is broken" forum.
Is the front tire of the driver side suppose to emit more heat then the one on the passenger side? I notice everytime i get off the car, i can feel the heat from the tire as I walk by, then I checked the passenger side tires and its not even hot. Are the tires even suppose to be hot? (not hot enuff to burn you). Is this normal? I just had my wheel align like 3 weeks ago and these are brand new tires. |
is it really the tires or the brakes ?tires shouldn't get hot, but look at the rotors and see if any of them are hotter than the others
did u post it in my car sucks forum ? i haven't seen it.
ok let say if its the rotor and not the tires. Whats wrong? the rotors on to tight or something?
yup. check those. i have the same problem on my 92. i turned the rotor red hot once
Rotor on too tight or dragging caliper?
If it were your tires, then the only reason one should get any warmer than the others would be if it were underinflated. b |
Ok lets say if the rotor is on too tight or the the caliper is draggin, if I dont do anything about it, would it damage anything like the tires? Cuz really i dont have any cash right now and Im scared if i take the tires off, i might have to get it aligned again.
if u get the tires off it won't kick the car out of alignament. however if u don't do anything about it, the rotor will warp and after a while will mess up the balljoints, tierods, rack and pinion, it will kick the car out of alignament.

I had my rotor changed like 1-2 months ago, if the shop did make it tight, then do i have the right to tell them to make it loose for free? |
yup, have them check that one out. also is the car pulling left when braking or driving ?
No the car isnt pulling left when braking or driving. I just test drived my cousins 2000 accord and the brakes were pretty damn hot. I stuck my fingers in there and I got burnt but the tires werent that hot. Btw , i have to stick my head like 2 inchs away from the tires to notice it is hot on my car. Oh yeah..I can only feel heat when Im driving for a long time at about 45 mph cuz thats how slow I go normally. Dont feel anything when I go short distance.
Did I mention I live in hawaii and the street is pretty damn hot? |
ok lets get some things straight because this sounds like a serious problem.
I can only feel heat when i stick my hands above the tires or right under the fenders. It must be me driving too fast on the hot street of hawaii. It can get up to 90 degrees here. Is there any other way to find out if my rotors are on too tight w/o takin the tires off? Im pretty sure the heat is coming from the tires and not the brakes. If the brakes is where the heat come from, then its must be really damn hot for me to able to feel it 1 feet away. |
or maybe it's because of the engine which is on the other side of the inner fender. the other one might be cold because it's next to the tranny which is not that hot
lol Isnt the engine in the middle?
Nope. it's transversal engine, so the engine is to the left and the tranny to the right.
wow hondamaniac, u sure know your stuff! hehe Thanks for the help dude.
By The way, If it is the rotors thats on too tight, if I leave it like that for o say 1 year, would it do any MAJOR harm beside it will place it out of alignment?
it depends on how warped they will get. on mine it messed up the balljoins, but if u said that the car is not putting left, or it does not shake when you hit the brakes i doubt there will be any problems.
