Clutch question

Here's the situation. I have a 1998 Honda Civic HX. My tranny is shot, and I purchased a new one thta will be here soon. I figured while I was in the replacing the tranny, I may as well replace the clutch, cause it's never been replaced before, and I may as well save myself the cost of the labor. Well, any D-series tranny is interchangeable with any other D-series tranny, and that's the good part, but I ordered my clutch before I knew that I needed a new tranny. The tranny might be coming from a 2001-2002 Honda Civic DX, cause the gear ratio's are the same for the DX and the HX, but the question is: Will the clutch from a 6th Gen. Honda Civic like mine work and fit in a 2001-2002 Honda Civic? Does anybody know for sure. Any help will be most appreciated. Thanks.

If the tranny works the clutch should work aswell. How did you ruin your transmission on a somewhat new civic?

Well, crap happens to any machine, no matter how new or old it is, things will always go wrong....but to be honest and make a long story short....DON'T RACE!

It's all good though. I have a tranny coming in that cost me $150 (there is nothing wrong with it at all and it only has 15,000 miles on it), and I just want to replace the clutch while I'm in there. I looked up the applications later on after I posted this and found out that the clutch will work. It said that the clutch will fit all hondas except SI from 92-existing models now. That's good to know for everyone that will go through what I go through.

Thanks a lot! I hope that everything goes well with it. Yeah it's a great deal for the tranny, and I'm very grateful that I came across it. It's like a miracle to me, but I'll let you know how everything goes.

I got it from thepartstrader.com Ebay has some also, but this was the best price, and a new one for that fact. Hope you find something good.

ok no seriously what did you do to blow your tranny?

or what got blown on your tranny?

i mean i race plenty and i've never had so much as a grind going into gear on a tranny that's got over 130k.

If your looking for a clutch www.Coximports.com carries Exedy clutches for a really good price. They have great service and can probably answer any questions you may have.

Well, like I said, I didn't really race a lot, but I ran the car hard a lot. I'm just not a lucky as you are in this situation. Why would you not believe me....lol? Most times with cars liek ours, when someone's tranny is messed up, it is because they usually ran the car very hard. The car drives, but there is definately a problem in there, and my mechanic advised me to buy a new tranny. Your a very fortunate person to not have the same problem that I have.

Yeah....Exedy was the way that I went. I got a brand new one for my car for $90 plus shipping. Great price if you ask me. Thanks for the advice though....I appreciate it.

I got it from a guy on ebay. I didn't get it on an auction. I e-mailed him at: ascoclutch@attbi.com and he said that he would sell me an Exedy clutch for $90 plus shipping. E-mail him and see what he says. Tell me what price you get it for too, and the great thing about this guy is that he replies really quick too. Let me know.

Well, he shipped it out the 2nd of this month, and it is expected to get here the 9th, so a week is around how long it will take. Let me know what you decide to do.
