get a b16 in the 12's

what does it take to get a b16a (in a 94 civic hatch) to hit 12 sec's? and about how much will it cost me

Almighty-Si 08-29-2002 09:53 AM

B16 in a hatch with a GReddy kit and some drag radials = 12's

Cost about $6-7000

yelizardking 09-02-2002 01:27 AM

is that including the engine? i'm guessing it's not.

Almighty-Si 09-02-2002 10:03 AM

B16 cost about $2500
Greddy Turbo kit cost $3100 with intercooler
Nitto Drag Radials $200 for a pair

Your total is $5,800. The total that I gave your before was being that you can install all this stuff yourself. If you cannot, then add about $2000 for the motor and turbo install.

Don't get too crazy with your Drag SLicks.... It will rip your axles apart....

drag radials aren't slicks, slicks can and most likely will give stock axles a problem at high rpm launches...

A lot of it is how your car is put together. I have had no problems with my stock axels with a touch over 500 whp to play with. Granted they will pop at some point but i jstu carry spares. You have to figure if you want a set of race axles its gonna run you a little over a grand. Thats a lot of used stock sets. i guess if your in competition its nice but if you jsut want to run 12s it wont be nessesary.

i see the price's and i saw that i got a pretty good deal on my swap. b16a with lsd, 4-1 dc headers, new timing belt & water pump (both are oe) + cheap no name short ram and "upgrade" 6 puck cluth all this for 3600

yelizardking 09-06-2002 01:45 AM

and i forgot the axels have lifetime guarantee! (and labor)

Boosted3g 09-22-2002 08:36 PM

that stock diff will blow before them axels will. No more than 300 hp for the diff or your asking for problems.

thermal 09-23-2002 03:08 PM

you're not gonna need those headers if you get a turbo neither. nice prices on those tho. goodluck

you also might wanna look into beefing up your tranny as well. With slicks, those stock honda tranny's are not gunna take much abuse before they shit the bed on ya.
