Need help on choosing and finding an engine.

I'm new to the car scene and have a dead Civic LX. I would like to get a new engine in it. Something with more horses than the stock that's in it. I don't understand the engine coding stuff, so I can't figure out what will fit and give me the speed I'm looking for. Can anyone please help me in starting a new project. All help is welcome. Thanks cnewdriver

The best engine to swap into a civic with ease is the integra GSR's engine. It'll give you a total of 170hp at the flywheel and should be good enough for 1/4mile times in the 14's about that of a stock Mustang GT. Oh the price is about $4000-4500 if you do the swap yourself and get a good price on the engine.

Integra GSR engine?

Would that be the B18C1 out of a 3rd gen Integra? Any Idea where I could find one of these engines?

You are correct.

get you a jdm b18c 180hp for 2,990. jdmclub.com it's my boy mark tell him alan sent you. really these are some of the cheapest cleanest motors out there.

thanks for the info. I'm checking the site....will this fit into my 92 civic LX? cause it's JDM and not usdm.

kickuaround 08-30-2002 08:34 PM

yeah, it'll fit. you'll get a little more power out of a jdm motor anyway. you gotta use good fuel tho.

thanks but I can't seem to find get info on the mileage. I found a type R 195HP it's a bit price-y but with 17,000 miles. It's a perfect fit for me.

they have under 40k i think. you don't need a type r man. that's a waste of money. you can do the same with a b18c. i guess it all just depend how fast you want to go and how much money you got. not way you can have all three....fast, cheap, reliable. it just don't work that way. Start with how much money you want to spend and what you want to do. NA or FI

care to help someone who is still learning. found a b18c1 w/ under 30,000miles 4 $3500. a type r w/17000miles 4 $4800. still got $$$ left over for install and other items needed. what do you think. If i'm annoyin ya....sorry and i won't bother ya

I would say go for the b18 that way you have some extra cash to add in to it right away....The type R is way over rated My freind has one and I still pull on him with a b16 with some simple mods I did and I saved way more money then he did.....
Do the b18
Good luck
Ty
