mustang vs civic

how much difference is there between the 02 civic ex and 02 mustang gt. i know the mustang's engine specs and everything, but i dont know how much the weight (or whatever else) somewhat evens out the competition.

just curious.

thanx

There is a big difference, and the GT will smoke an '02 EX.

quik 08-21-2002 07:35 AM

02' Honda Civic EX Coupe MT:
127 HP @6500 RPM
2555 lbs curb weight
20lbs/HP

02' Mustang GT V6
190 HP @5500 RPM
3066 lbs curb weight (approx)
16lbs/HP

02' Mustang GT V8
260 HP @5250 RPM
3066 lbs curb weight (approx)
11.7lbs/HP

Good luck with that one!

Mushroom 08-22-2002 08:53 AM

heck, can price even out the competition?

new Mustang GT coupe (v6*): $25140 base retail
new Civic EX coupe: $16970 base retail

SI: $19440
RSX-S: $23670

retail prices from kbb.com

--- edit ---
* The "v6" above is a fatty typo - of course I meant v8. I'm referring to the P42.140A, which is the GT.

Racing Rice 08-23-2002 02:24 PM

They made a mustang GT V6?!?!?:paranoid:

TonitrusEN 08-23-2002 02:25 PM

That doesnt sound right.. GT's are and will be V8s

slowEJ6 08-23-2002 08:48 PM

quik 08-26-2002 07:56 AM

No, there's not a V6 GT. I posted the specs for each of the engines for curosities sake.

Usually if it has a single exhaust it is a V6, but not always. ;)

Sivik 08-28-2002 03:38 PM

You prolly raced a SN95 Mustang (94-98). They have a 150 hp (used to have one). Weight kills them... and all single exhaust mustangs are v6's.

Kyle 08-28-2002 04:26 PM

did you really need to make this thread?...

gixer 08-28-2002 06:34 PM

i think he was trying to ask what's the hp/weight ratio of both cars but couldn't find the words.*shrug* 1/4 times speak for themselves...

ebpda9 08-28-2002 08:42 PM

amen to that.

there are 2000 and 2001 mustangs with the 4.6l v8 and single exhaust and no gt badging. Seen them acouple of times, people special order them.

gixer 08-29-2002 02:23 AM

blie, you have a dyno sheet for ur wrx?... i find it hard to imagine that a wrx can get so much hp with so little mods considering awd loses lots of hp through the drivetrain.

Yes the price can even out the competition real fast. You take that extra almost 8200$, put a B-series motor in the civc, turbos and short throw shifter and line them up again and see who wins.

mylittlecivic 09-17-2002 01:26 AM

69 mustangs are pretty other then that i dont like rustangs:paranoid: I wasted a v6 in my sisters automatic jetta!
