GRRrrr..static electricity.....

does any of you get that? i've been getting zapped lately each time i get out of my car. this also includes my passengers. it's starting to annoy me cuz sometimes it hurts;( when it's cold outside. not to mention the embarrassment at night time while getting out of my car in front of a club:D. so how do i get rid or minimize this?........;)

Accord Man 10-08-2001 03:11 PM

Touch the metal before you get out..

::yes::

2000Pimpinex 10-08-2001 03:27 PM

It used to happen to me each and every time I got out of the car. It has something to do with the seats in our cars. After a while you kinda get used to it.

he he he...i do that man, that's when i get zapped:o....that's what i'm trying to avoid. i want to have a normal "zap-free" exit.:D

Accord Man 10-08-2001 04:26 PM

Here's another idea.
Hold metal as you exit.
So that the charges are instantly balanced, well atleast enough so that you dont get zapped by those nasty MICRO-VOLTS !!

:D :D

:D :D

he he he he......i've been trying to discharge the electricity before i get out by placing my palm on the key (ignition).....:D

I think this what happens.. theory # 3..

As you get out of the car, the friction between your ass and the seat charges you with protons..

So when you're actually out of the car, and you touch the handle (or metal on car) your electricity is discharged (equalized) on the ground (body) of your car..

Ok I confused myself there.. but it should be close to whats happening.

Wait and see, some nerd is gonna come in here trying to disprove all my theories..
:D

azn_nite_ryder 10-08-2001 10:43 PM

go to the asian malls or stores that sell the static grounder... the ones at hardware stores suck a$$... besides the ones that come fresh off the boat are sweeet looking... then everyone will wonder where you got that.....hehehe.... i love asian auto stores... :D

Racing Rice 10-09-2001 07:43 AM

You could spray everything down with downing it helps against static electricity.. We spray it on the floor at work, it does wanders.. And makes everything smell nice and clean.

Yeah thats exactly what Im talking about.. Put some in a spray bottle and spray a little on the carpet or whatever.. It helps get rid of the static electricity..

ok heres the static strip i was talking about... its attached to the bottom part of the chassis and the whole car gets grounded thus you dont get shocked.. and trust me i used to get shocked a lot... heres a very old pic of my car when i first got it without my stuff on it.... it shows the strip on the back left hand side of the car.... its better looking in person too.... its a lot thicker than the conventional stuff....heres the pic

azn_nite_ryder 10-11-2001 01:30 AM

not bad for a $10 cdn investment... saves on the ouches... :D

Racing Rice 10-11-2001 07:05 AM

Ok... I think you lost me....

Big James 10-11-2001 07:13 AM

I have seen that grounding strap on Subaru's. The owners always say they work great.

I find that if I am the passenger in a car, I get shocked. When I am driving, no shock. I am going to have to pay a team of top specialists to analyze the movements made as I exit cars from both sides for several months. Then after all data is collected they can come up with a way to get out of my car without getting shocked.

Nah. Just wear a body suit made of aluminum foil. That should do it.

An added bonus to the aluminum hat. It keeps Aliens from using electronic wavelength to probe your brain, and it keeps the government from being able to track you on satellite.

But the down side is it makes you easier to be clocked by radar by giving a super shiney surface for them to shoot off of.
