New spy photos of cars

Dressed up as a Lexus GS clone for testing purposes only, Volkswagen's soon-to-be flagship (code-named D1) is finishing up last minute testing and getting ready for its 2002 Geneva introduction. Measuring in at nearly 16.5 feet, the D1 will likely be powered by a 6.0-liter W12 pushing 450 horsepower when it officially reaches the first North American dealerships next year. Six engines, including a 5.0-liter V10 diesel, will be available in Europe, but it appears we'll only have the W12 with 4Motion available in the States.

The super-luxury super-Volkswagen hopes to gain new customers from Mercedes and BMW with luxury appointments, superior ride and handling, and — believe it or not - pricing. The US model should begin under $75,000, with annual production in Dresden expected to be near 30,000

Phocus restyling

The Ford Focus has been on the market since 1998, and the company is now planning a facelift for the model year 2002.

The photo is showing a prototype with a chess board disguise, so that alterations can be recognized only at the second glance.

The next Focus will have a new front end with new headlights and skirt, the turn signals are now integrated into the headlights on the side. The front skirt is featuring a new wide air intake, interior and rear end will — if at all — undergo very minor changes.

PT Cruiser

High in the Rocky Mountains, this turbo-charged GT Cruiser was caught--complete with GT and 2.4-liter turbo chrome emblems. Sources close to DaimlerChrysler tell us the new turbo-charged Cruiser may reach up to 200-hp will likely be available in late 2002 as a 2003 model year introduction.

diablo succesor- canto

Audi is expected to finally launch the successor to the Lamborghini Diablo at this fall's Frankfurt Motor Show. The new model could be called Canto.

These photos are showing a prototype with almost no disguise during final testing at Nürburgring in Germany. Redesigned by Bertone, the Diablo replacement will be powered by a 600 HP V 12 engine.

phocus cossworth(almost a wrc)

Seen here during recent tests at Germany's Nürburgring circuit is a prototype mule of the future hot Ford Cosworth, which is the road version of Ford's Focus World Rallye Car (WRC).

The final edition of this new model will again feature the big rear wing, which is still missing on the pictured prototype. The Focus Cosworth will be powered by a turbocharged 2.0-liter 4-cylinder engine performing 310 hp, acceleration rates around 5sec./100km. The car is also expected to get a newly developed four-wheel-drive system. Besides the top of the line Cosworth, Ford is developing two other sporty Focus variants: the RS is scheduled for launch this summer, and the ST170 is scheduled for release this fall.

The VW....
The W12 is amazing. And if the output stays the same:eek:

The Focus.....
Who cares. Its still ugly.

The PT.....
Try harder.....

The Lambo.....
Is that a jet engine strapped to the back of it?

The "other" Focus.....
At least they're making some headway here.....

Maxvla 06-25-2002 03:35 PM

that lambo looks more like an A-10 Warthog than a car.

Kyle 06-25-2002 06:49 PM

the last focus is in the xbox game, project gotham racing...it's fast on there;)

94_AcCoRd_EX 06-25-2002 07:15 PM

That lambo has one crazy rear end, but I'd drive it :D

Grey16 06-25-2002 10:07 PM

I'd have to say the Labo looks like a A-10 or a SR-71 with wheels

Must agree with pretty much everything you said here, hehe! :)
except the Cosworth, it was there before, and just brought back (I think it wasn't produced for a few years)

It was used in the making of Getaway in Stockholm II, and that car kept up to a supra (tuned cosworth that is). So I'd say it's a pretty nice car.

Wasn't that a Ford Escort Cosworth? It looked a little different than that pic. Oh well. Same difference.;)

juvenile 06-27-2002 12:08 AM

It was an older Cosworth in the stockholm movie. Plus it was modded like CRAZY. ~600hp to the wheels

FeelMyRide 06-27-2002 01:28 AM

2 different sets of rims?
besides that..

juvenile 06-27-2002 10:14 AM

I think the back rim just LOOKS differently. If you look carefully enough, it follows the same pattern. I bet it's just the angel the pic was taken at

Its the same pattern, but with a wider wheel. That's where you get the "dip" in teh middle.
