1/4times... need some quick help

Yeah lets start out by me saying Im an idiot... now that thats out of the way

Last time I was at the track (on stock tires) I ran 16.4 with a R/T of 1.5... heh yeah I was messin with radio... does this mean it actually took me 14.9 to run the 1320 or 16.4. Guess what Im asking is- does the timing computer calculate the R/T and subtract it from the stripe-stripe time or not? Also my new tires lower gearing by about .10... anyone know what this might do to my time as last time, as I said, was 16.4@87mph... thanks:)

:D messing w/ the radio...

I dunno to answer your question.

still 16.4 isn't too shabby .. i think that counts your RT .. i could be wrong

You still ran it in 16.4.
14.9 :D That would be very fast in your highlander.

4jacks 05-26-2002 10:52 PM

oh .. so they don't count RT ... that's odd...

Maxvla 05-26-2002 10:53 PM

even if they did count r/t it'd only be 15.4 since a perfect r/t is .5 seconds.

Wren57 05-26-2002 10:55 PM

Oh yeah thats true... heh well still I'd much prefer 15.4 to 16.4;)

Your reaction doesn't count, b/c they don't start the 1/4 timers until you break the staging beams...if you sit there for half an hour, you'd still have a 16.4.

See that makes sense Niacin, but while I was watching NHRA drag racing on ESPN (i was bored and in denial over exams)... they said lots of people won because of the "holeshot"... they got a better jump and lower R/T and thus a lower 1/4 time... I dunno maybe your right... do u know for sure or are ya just guessing? Thanks again!:)

ChrisCantSkate 05-27-2002 11:36 AM

well, it matters, because they actualy race, thats bracket racing, where the first person to the end wins. then your R/T matters. but if your doing a test and tune night thing, then it counts breaking the beams to start the time

Gotcha- thanks a lot everyone... gotta make some more mods to get sub15... ugh the wait on a turbo intake manifold is gonna be forever;( ... oh well

ChrisCantSkate 05-27-2002 06:10 PM

4thgenlude is right, that's bracket racing, where the rules really change. And I'm positive. Not going with the herd doesn't make someone a moron.
